I remember the first time we thought about LUNA , chasing our kids down the stairs of a play structure at a park, a business meeting in the middle of a playground while attending to crazy hyper kiddos.
This is our lives all the time and the lives of so many other women around us, not only mothers, but wives, business women, teachers, nurses, and women in general. We strive to take care of the people around us, always taking care of multiple things at a time, having multiple projects in mind, running, and rushing. It’s constant GO time for us.
That’s why having people in our lives is so important. Finding a community that supports and helps when you are overwhelmed, shares and celebrates ones succes, and learns from ones losses, is a community we are creating.
It has been proven that in times of stress, we seek social interactions. When the fight or flight response is buffered, women look to protect and nurture their children and to gather with other women. Dr. Laura Klein and Dr. Shelley Taylor refer to this as the “tend and befriend” pattern, everything gets better when we work and support each other. Imagine how powerful a women community can be, the things we can achieve when we create together, and when we imagine and grow together.
That is why, while chasing our kids down the park, thinking about what can we possibly do to help women around us, LUNA was born. LUNA: a place where we connect, a place where we help each other succeed, a place where we give a hand , and a place where we bloom.
